Tracklisting & More Information
1. A Day Without Me
2. Things To Make And Do
These don't turn up everyday! There are some great 'foreign' sleeves for U2's single releases and this one is no exception, and it's their debut single release in Germany.
Unlike the UK issue, Germany (and Holland) chose to release 'A Day Without Me' with a different picture sleeve, largely derived from the now iconic 'Boy' album artwork. As with most European picture sleeves this is manufactured from thin paper stock and they seldom appear in Mint condition - usually falling into the 'wrecked but rare' category, full of creases, seam splits and the previous owner's name written on the cover!
Thankfully, this copy has been well cared for. The vinyl is Excellent, just very minor hairline surface marks but no scratches - it plays accordingly, but then there's nothing exclusive about the musical content on this pressing anyway. The all-important sleeve is in overall Excellent condition. There are NO seam splits, the edges are intact and the corners strong. The black border tends to show imperfections easily but this copy retains its solid colour. The black & white 'Boy' image is in great shape. The paper stock used was semi-glossy and shows creases very easily - on close inspection these creases are evident, but it would be impossible for one not to display these after 25-years. Being German, this issue has a black dot printed either side of the 'A DAY WITHOUT ME' title on the front cover - the Dutch issue should have arrows in place of the dots (but we've never actually seen one for real and would love to hear from anyone who can confirm its existence - send pics please!)
The back cover has a white background and this shows minimal ringwear from the record impression whilst inside the sleeve. There are 4 individual pictures of Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry, positioned to the far left and far right edges; the 'Boy' album sleeve is pictured in the centre. There is one small area of paper loss towards the top edge - approx. 2cm wide by 1/2cm tall. This is the only real imperfection on what is an otherwise superb example of this extreme rarity. In fact, if you can find one at all, let alone in better shape than this, you're doing well - this is only our second copy in over 20 years!
