Soaky Bubble Bath Container - Paul

THE BEATLES Soaky Bubble Bath Container - Paul (1965 US 9" tall moulded plastic bubble bath container shaped in the image of Paul McCartney. For reasons unknown only Paul and Ringo were available, neither John or George were manufactured. Originally Pauls head would be removed to reveal a screw cap, however the screw cap has been lost in the passage of time. This Bubble Bath container or 'Soaky' as it is also known was manufactured by Colgate and is now over 40 years old. It's one of the harder items of original Beatles memorabilia to find in good condition for many reasons. Items such as the Talc Tin (prone to rust) and these containers were designed for use in a bathroom where they could easily wear and damage due to steam and constant tempreature changes. These bubble bath containers were also intended for children, no-one knew of their future value so they were handled as you would expect a disposible novelty item to be treated - and of course most would have been thrown away once empty!

The container is predominantly red moulded plastic. The figure is on a moulded base with 'Paul McCartney' text indented into it. Underneath the base are the copyright details (NEMS Enterprises 1965) and content details.

The condition of this item is suprising given the above information. As mentioned this one is without the screw cap, but it is free from cracks and major damage so often found in such fragile items. The most prominent flaw is that the paint on Pauls right hand has worn away to show the red plastic underneath. There are are other areas where the paint has started to thin but these are hardly noticable.

This is by far the best example of this hard to find collectable bubble bath container we've seen in 20 years!
