CAL TJADER Monterey Concerts (1973 UK 13-track double LP, a live mono recording dating back to 20th April 1959 and previously released on Fantasy across two separate LPs entitled Concert By The Sea Vol. 1 & 2. Gatefold picture sleeve with exstensive sleeve note by Philip Elwood, the sleeve shows some light edge/ring wear scuffs, the inside gatefold has some mild shelfwear, both the vinyl discs look barely played PR24026)

These complete Monterey Concert recordings from 1959 contain a wonderful latin-fused jazz set from the Modern Mambo Quintet, possibly Tjader's greatest band, and quite possibly the greatest small-combo Latin jazz band ever! Tjader is also credited with bringing in big ticket sales that year and saving the landmark festival before it had even got going. Features Mongo Santamaria, Willie Bobo, Lonnie Hewitt, Paul Horn and Al McKibbon in lightning form.
