JEM Down To Earth (2009 UK 12-track CD album - Jem returns with the follow-up to her 2004 debut album 'Finally Woken' which spawned the hit single 'They'. 'Down To Earth' features the single 'It's Amazing' [which appeared on the 'Sex and The City' movie OST]; and reflects Jem's far-ranging influences including Brazilian percussion on the title track, Detroit Gospel choirs, a Stevie Wonder inspired 'Crazy' complete with funky banjo, and the tempestuous Latin-flavored track 'I Want YouTo...' [a collaboration originally earmarked for a solo album by turntable whiz Cut Chemist]. With other highlights including the blistering dance-pop tune 'Aciiid!' on which Jem sings in Japanese; and a moving collaboration with South African singer / songwriter and poet-activist Vusi Mahlasela on the track 'You Will Make It' which recalls 9/11, and dealing with the suffering of loss.)
