ERIC DOLPHY Last Date (Scarce 1973 Japanese only issue of the incredibly rare 1964 6-track LP which showcases Dolphy at his most mature level. The songs were recorded live on June 2, 1964 in Hilversum, Holland. Dolphy was a guest artist for a popular Dutch radio show and was recording with some of Holland's premiere jazz artists - Misha Mengelberg on Piano, Jacques Schols on Bass & Han Bennink on Drums. A few months later, Eric Dolphy died from Insulin shock as a result of his long untreated diabetes, making this the last ever recording sessions of one of the greatest innovators the jazz world has ever seen.
