MIKE OLDFIELD Tubular Bells (2009 Japanese exclusive limited edition 3-disc set, comprised of the 6-track 2-disc SHM-CD [Super High Material CD - playable on all CD players] album, offering a brand new stereo mix, which Oldfield created at his home in the Bahamas in March 2009 [disc 1], plus 2-track SHM-CD featuring the original 1973 stereo mix [disc 2], plus a bonus All Region NTSC DVD that offers an audio 5.1 surround mix created by Oldfield in March 2009 with video section containing the BBC '2nd House' performance of 'Tubular Bells Part One', taped on 1st December 1973; superbly presented in fully laminated mini LP-style card sleeve [with individual card sleeves for discs 2 & 3 - confusingly, the original stereo mixes on CD 2 are presented in a 'Quadrophonic' sleeve!] with amazing 24-page photo/info booklet, fold-out Japanese info sheet + obi strip)

The SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.
