CHARLIE PARKER/ VARIOUS Norman Granz Jam Session (1976 US 4-track double LP featuring the Charlie Parker sides recorded during the mammoth Hollywood 'All-Star' sessions, organised a a sort of prequel to what would eventually become the JATP series of concerts. For the first time the Altos of Charlie Parker, Benny Carter & Johnny Hodges were gathered together in front of one set of microphones, aided & abetted by Charlie Shavers on Trumpet, Flip Phillips & Ben Webster on Tenor, Oscar Peterson on Piano, Barney Kessel on Guitar, Ray Brown on Bass & J.C. Heard on Drums. The gatefold picture sleeve shows a spot of light ring wear & the vinyl discs are super clean & appear barely touched or played VE-2-2508)
