Condition : -

The pasted sleeve shows obvious signs of its age but this is mostly at the edges. There is some scuffing and a 1" split at the bottom opening and a half inch split at the top opening, but this is expected. The print is still clearly legible and the condition remains very good.

The colours of the labels are bright and vivid with no tears to the print. There is a 'deep groove' visible but only on side one. There are some spindle marks to indicate play but nothing too excessive.

The vinyl has been professionally cleaned on a Matrix machine and has come up looking sparkling. Upon play testing both sides we were struck at how impressive the sound quality is, with no distortion and only the very faintest surface noise evident in the quietest parts; certainly nothing that will spoil your enjoyment. There are a couple of ultra fine hairlines and a few small surface scuffs in places but these have little to no effect on play. This classic plays very, very nicely indeed and if you're serious about collecting Coltrane, there really is no other way to own this one - you've got to get a first pressing mono to hear the difference...

All in all, a wonderful VG/EX- example of this, Trane's lone Blue Note release, at a fair price. This one should not be missing from any jazz collection. Trust us, you won't be disappointed!
