This is the third issue on the yellow and black Parlophone label. The first two issues were on the black and gold design label and the first yellow & black issues lacked the 'Recording First Published' text.
This is technically the fifth issue, still from 1963 and still with -1 matrix numbers.

The labels:

Black and Yellow Parlophone in design with 'The Parlophone Co Ltd' perimeter text.
As this is a 1963 pressing there is no 'Sold in the UK' text across the centre of the label however the 'Recording First Published 1963' credit is present, along with the K/T tax code.
The silver text is clearly readable with no blemishes or fading & a striking yellow Parlophone logo.

Matrix numbers:

The matrix numbers on both sides finish -1 indicating that this copy was among the first batches pressed:

Side One XEX 421-1N
Side Two XEX 422-1N

The vinyl is in VG condition with a few visible surface hairlines & a couple of light scuffs. The vinyl still retains it's original shine despite being fifty years old. This is highly unusual as many copies of this album were played excessively at parties during the sixties and many became damaged or badly scratched.

Complete with 'Use Emitex' lined inner.

The Ernest J Day front laminated picture sleeve has the large block 'mono' logo and is in VG+/EX- condition with crisp clean laminate, rich colours, undamaged edges and spine and secure flipbacks. The rear of the sleeve has not had the benefit of being protected by laminate, however it remains free of all but a small area of tape discolouration at the top where a historic store sticker has been removed. Guess what store that might have been ?

The outer printed polybag might provide a clue here, in that it is a NEMS Liverpool bag, with the addresses for both the 12/14 Whitechapel & 50/52 Great Charlotte Street branches and the telephone number 'ROYAL 7895', dating it pretty clearly to the time period.

All in all a very respectable 1963 mono copy of this great debut album by the Fabs in a historic NEMS polybag outer from Liddypool itself.
