TUBBY HAYES QUINTET Down In The Village (Rare UK 1962 first issue 6-track mono vinyl LP on the black & silver Fontana label, recorded live at Ronnie Scott's Club in May that year with Jimmy Deuchar, Gordon Beck, Freddy Logan & Allan Ganley - a fantastic live set introduced by Ronnie himself & well worth it for the excellent title track & the riproaring opener, Johnny One Note. The front laminated sleeve has some coffee staining on the back slick yet all print remains clearly legible &the flipbacks are secure, the spine perfectly legible. The vinyl (G condition) shows quite a few scuffs, hairlines & the odd scratch but has been professionally cleaned & still plays through well. Once the full band get going this remains an enjoyable set with a little ambient surface noise in the quieter sections & no distortion. A serviceable example of one of Tubby's finest live dates!)
