THE BEATLES Beatles Stage Memorabilia (Original piece of Fab Four stage memorabilia! The Beatles played the Birkenhead YMCA on the 8th of September, 1962, one of Ringo Starr's first gigs as a Beatle. The YMCA was demolished in the nineties to make way for a new building & to raise money for the Birkenhead YMCA Trust. The actual stage for that Beatles gig in 1962 was very small. It was later cut down into four inch blocks of which a limited edition of five-hundred were sold off for charity, all numbered (this is number 140) with the Birkenhead YMCA stamp on the block & a certificate of authenticity signed & stamped by the executive director of Birkenhead YMCA, Anne Johnson, with the actual advertisement for the event laminated on the back, as taken from microfiche records of Birkenhead News archived in the Birkenhead Central Library. Local press described it as a piece of holy grail for Beatles fans & announced that the stage was so small that the boys must have sweated & spat on every single piece of it! It remains in unrestored condition just as it left the YMCA - a lovely piece of treasure)
