THE USSR MINISTRY OF CULTURE ORCHESTRA conducted by GENNADI ROZHDESTVENSKY Rothschild's Violin (1983 Russian digitally recorded LP featuring the Opera in one act based on Chekhov's book of the same name. This work was mostly completed by Veniamin Fleishman, a student of Shostakovich, before he volunteered for war service and was killed near Leningrad in September 1941. This work was completed by Dmitri Shostakovich at the end of 1943 when the partially completed manuscript was delivered to him. This is explained in greater depth in the Russian and English sleeve notes on the back of the sleeve.
