With a type set label that lists only these eleven song titles, this mystery double-sided acetate had been sat in a box just waiting to be discovered.

Legend has it John Barry was originally hired by the film's director to score the movie but the executive producer rejected it. Those initial tapes are now thought to be forever lost to a flood in London's CTS Wembley storage facilities. For John Barry fans, that particular score would be a holy grail find. However, Ken Thorne's replacement effort could well be the next best thing...

Strictly in mono only, the eleven tracks across this acetate represent the replacement score for the movie provided by Ken. In its complete form, this soundtrack was never commercially released. The only track that made its way to vinyl [albeit promo only] was the lush title piece, with lyrics by Don Black & vocals performed by Esther O'Farim.

This one-off acetate had been stored in Vic Lewis' private archives since the day it was cut. During Vic's time as an impresario & agent there were few luminaries of the show business world with whom he had not been associated at one time or another; these archives have already produced a number of awe inspiring & unique items like this & we are all too proud to bring them to the market when we can.

On close inspection, the acetate appears in stunning condition. There is some very mild chemical reaction to the poly bag in patches, but mostly just by the label area. It has been played perhaps just a couple of times & no more. The disc is in mono & plays beautifully & without fault, with just the lightest evidence of cosmetic wear.

All in all, a real curious discovery & one that would make a special entry to a serious soundtrack collection. No longer 'lost' forever more?
