ZOOT SIMS - BOB BROOKMEYER OCTET Stretching Out (Jazz-tastic 1959 US promotional 6-track deep groove mono vinyl LP, recorded at Tom Nola's penthouse one Saturday afternoon in December that year with Al Cohn, Harry Edison, Hank Jones, guitarist Freddie Green, Eddie Jones & Charlie Persip. The labels are custom black on white with large 'Promotion - Not For Sale' lettering, complete with the retail pasted laminate sleeve topped off with the type of sexy cover that falls firmlyin the "cheesecake" genre of collecting these days with 'Promotion Copy - Not For Sale' red stamper on the back. Liberated from a mouth-watering private collection of Jazz LPs, all bought from new at the time as exotic imports into the UK, this is one such title that we have never stocked before.

Apart from two small tape marks for reinforcement at the opening corners, the jacket remains in fabulous condition. The model has lost none of her allure & the colours remain rich & vivid, gold gloves on blue velvet galore. The spine is majestic & all text is legible. In fact, the sleeve is worthy of framing alone.

The labels are unblemished. These labels are a custom design for promotional purposes only. The proposed release date of '3-12-59' is even engraved in the run-outs. Very tasty & such a treat to find.
The heavyweight vinyl is super clean & both sides retain a deep sheen. On close inspection, there is merely a little spindle wear by the centre hole & the odd faint paper scuff on the vinyl not affecting play. A gorgeous VG+/EX- example & a record that yells "JAZZ" - what's not to love!
