Tracklisting & More Information

This was one of the unusual pressings for Beatles LPs made in Germany. Similar versions were made as licences to Hör-Zu magazine that were available to buy in stores throughout Germany as well as by mail order.

This particular copy was made for exclusive sale in American military bases in Germany and while technically 'Export' they never actually left the country until later. This catalogue number was also used for some copies exported to Switzerland, although most were copies with 'Hör-Zu' stickers.
The labels carry both the standard first release catalogue number of 'SMO 81 045' as well as [in small print] 'ZTOX 5636', the 'Export' number & 'SHZE 401' the Hör-Zu number.
The matrices only carry the 'SHZE 401' number.

The first issue Peppers came with a few unique quirks not found on later editions:

The most obvious is the 'Candystripe' alternative to the flame inner.

The back cover has the misprint 'A Little Help From My Friends' & also has an Odeon / EMI logo that was absent from the Odeon reissues.

Condition:

The fully laminated picture sleeve shows some light shelfwear with a little wear to the extreme corners and a few minor surface marks with a little tiny clipping to the very end of the spine but this is minimal, there is otherwise only a few other spots of wear with all text legible, the panels looking bold and clear and the inner spread rich in colour, free of wear, with flipbacks intact, nothing else too excessive and overall looking great.

The scarce inner has a little general creasing and splits to the bottom and a smaller one to one side. Though not mint its remarkable to be present and has suffered no paper loss, writing or fading.

The labels have a few faint spindle marks to show it has been played a few times. The vinyl has some noticeable general surface marks and harilines which again though far from mint reveals no major deterioration in sound quality with just minimal background noise

Although not pristine this is still a very good example of this extremely rare German 'Export' LP!
