The Affectionate Punch - Test Pressing

THE ASSOCIATES The Affectionate Punch (Incredibly rare Test Pressing for the 1980 UK 10-track debut LP, a post-punk mini-masterpiece by Billy Mackenzie & co, including guest vocals from Robert Smith of The Cure. The labels are numbered'1' & '2' in custom black on white. The Fiction label's original proposed 'FIX 5' catalogue number is machine stamped in the dead wax on the first side & scratched out in favour of a hand inscribed '2383585 A1', with a cryptic 'Goodbye Hal' message. The second side matrix detail is machine stamped in the run-off '2383585 B2'. Obtained from the private collection of an ex-industry exec, these were pressed in a miniscule run purely to test the sonics & never intended for sale to the general public. The vinyl is near mint. Very hard to come by!)
