LED ZEPPELIN Led Zeppelin (Extremely rare 1969 UK 9-track first issue stereo vinyl LP with 'Superhype' publishing credit on the labels, legendary fully laminated sleeve with turquoise lettering. This is the version with corrected label publisher credits and the third digit of the matrix number scratched out and replaced by a hand etched '8'. The vinyl is a 160gram press. Released on 31st March 1969, this was the world debut of Led Zeppelin.
The very first UK issue had this Turquoise lettered sleeve. The rear picture is a degree more brown tinted than the later orange copies.
There is a noticeable grey bar at the bottom of the front image which characterised the Polydor pressings and was removed when they changed to Warner distribution.
The reverse of the sleeve has the 'Uptight An' Outasight' credit that was replaced with a Warner credit after the Polydor issues.

The labels have 'Superhype' and 'Jewel Music' credits under the tracklisting and the side one label has been corrected and now does not erroneously credit the third track twice, with the Superhype credit now listing '1, 2, 4' and not '1, 3, 4'.
They are the familiar plum & red design with black fan to the right, 'Made in Gt. Britain' at the top & 'Polydor Records Limited' at the bottom.

Sleeve

The sleeve remains in reasonable condition with some laminate creasing, particularly at the corners. There is a small amount of laminate lift in places, which is normal, particularly at the spine. There is very little scuffing with this example. The front image is still very white and shelfwear remains very much at the level you would expect. The original price sticker still adorns the front [0.40 - I'll take a dozen please!] and there is what appears to be a catalogue sticker to the reverse.

Vinyl

The matrix numbers are 588171 A//1 & 588171 B//1 and are the second variant with scratched out matrix correction, as in later issues.

The labels have spindle marks to show excessive play. Visually, the vinyl appears in Fair condition with many paper scuffs, hairlines & the odd few scratches. We have professionally cleaned both sides & play tested the record & we can confirm that there is no major loss of clarity in sound with just moderate 'crackle', meaning this record is more along the lines of Record Collector's 'Very Good' grading. This is thanks to the superior quality of this pre-oil crisis pressing, when played the effect is minimal although the odd pop & click can be heard at times. We have strictly graded this copy 'Good'.

All in all this is an acceptable, if far from mint, copy at a competitive price.
