ART PEPPER The Art Pepper Quartet (1988 US issue of the 1958 7-track mono LP, also featuring Russ Freeman on piano, Ben Tucker on bass & Gary Frommer on Drums, picture sleeve reproducing the original album artwork. Recorded in a rare moment inthe fifties when he was not in Jail, you can see even in these early sessions that whatever his personal problems, he projected soul whenever he played, as perfected in his mid seventies comeback albums after a long period in rehab.
