THE PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA conducted by EUGENE ORMADY Chopin: Les Sylphides / Delibes: Sylvia / Coppelia (Late 60s, early 70s Australian blue label stereo LP. Whilst Tchaikovsky is widely credited with raising the quality of ballet music to the same level as the Symphony & Opera music, in truth Delibes had preceded him by nearly ten years. The scores for Sylvia & Coppelia are every bit as vibrant & symphonic as any of Tchaikovsky's ballet compositions - Tchaikovsky himself once said that if he had known of Sylvia, he would have never felt the need to compose Swan Lake. The front laminated picture sleeve & vinyl are near mint)
