ORNETTE COLEMAN Free Jazz (1974 US stereo issue of the groundbreaking 1961 LP on a green & orange Atlantic label [PR suffix in label number], a milestone in spontaneous group improvisation using two separate quartets panned to either sideof the stereo spectrum that caused a great deal of controversy at the time. The stellar array of musicians also feature Donald Cherry, Scott LaFaro & Billy Higgins on the left channel & Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Haden & Ed Blackwell on the right. The die-cut gatefold picture sleeve has extensive liner notes along with an equally abstract Jackson Pollock illustration inside. The sleeve is VG with a notable area of discolouration on the front. Despite this the vinyl remains in excellent condition, leaving this an ideal play copy! SD1364)
