ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS Meet You At The Jazz Corner Of The World Volumes 1 & 2 (1961-62 US first press mono 2-LP set on the original Blue Note labels with 'West 63rd' address across all four sides, plus 'RVG' machine stamps & 'ear' etchings in all four run-outs, recorded live on September 14, 1960 [not to be confused with volumes I & II BLP 4015/6 with similar title "At the Corner of the World" recorded earlier]. Also stars Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons & Jymie Merritt. Both parts are housed in their original front laminated picture sleeves with catalogue inners. Condition:-

Both sleeves are heavy duty pasted laminate originals with their period UK tax import stickers attached to the rear slicks. Both covers [VG+] remain in really nice condition with clean panels & no writing. The edges are sharp & all print is clearly legible with the odd tiny paper fracture in the top edges. There is a small thumbnail split to the paper at the bottom of the spine of Volume 2, forgiveable with age. Both covers also have their original catalogue inners enclosed.

Both these records were obtained at the same time by their one previous owner. The vinyl discs are heavyweight & remain nice & clean & sound superb. The original Plastylite 'ear' etching is visible in all four run-outs.
Volume 1 has a nice sheen both sides - we would carefully grade the vinyl VG+/EX- with just a couple of paper scuff marks on Side 1 which do not affect play.
Volume 2 is also a lovely example & grades EX/EX- revealing the odd faint paper hairline scuff not affecting play. Although not mint, these are a stunning pair & bought together would save a collector quite a bit of time & hassle! Recommended.
