STATUS QUO Picturesque Matchstickable Messages From The Status Quo (Impossibly rare 1968 UK 12-track STEREO LP on the blue & black Pye label. The DEBUT album from one of the world's best known rock bands, here in their first psychedelicincarnation, which they were soon to discard in favour of their morefamiliar sound as the album failed to chart and the follow-up Spare Parts fared as badly. The acid-induced sound makes some good use of phasing and psychedelic whimsy vocalsto give a very definite 1967-68 sound. The album includes covers ofSpicks And Specks and Green Tambourine as well as the original standout tracks Black Veils OF Melancholy and Technicolor Dreams as well as the well known Pictures Of Matchstick Men. The front laminated flipback picture sleeve has the 'Stereo NSPL' sticker attached to the reverse, partially covering the printed Mono catalogue number. Please see Additional information below.)

Condition
The fantastic sleeve displays just a little wear general wear, with just a few light creases in the laminate, the flipbacks on the back remains intact and complete. The non-laminated back displays some age discolouration with some light foxing, but there are no rips, tears of writing.

This has stamped matrices:-

A1G* / B1G*

And also has 'Stereo' stamped both sides after the matrix.


The labels are both very clean with only a few light spindle marks to show it has been played, however, the vinyl remains very clean with only a few light cosmetic surface paper scuffs.

This is an amazing example and the first Stereo issue we have ever stocked, we hope we don't have to wait another 30 years until we get another one again!
