SONNY ROLLINS East Broadway Run Down (Verve Acoustic Sounds Series limited edition 3-track stereo LP, mastered by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound from the original analogue tapes and pressed on 180-gram black vinyl at Quality Record Pressings. A heavyweight entry in the Rollins catalog, East Broadway Run Down was recorded in 1966 and released the following year by Impulse Records. It sees Rollins venturing into moody and free-ish territory in the company of Jimmy Garrison onbass and Elvin Jones on drums. Trumpeter Freddie Hubbard joins the trio on the title track, making the album a compelling display of Rollins’ journeying into the unforeheard. It was his last album before industry pressures led him to take a six-year hiatus. High quality tip-on gatefold picture sleeve with original cover artwork from a painting by Mel Cheren, hype sticker & factory sealed)
