LEE MORGAN City Lights (1984 Japanese limited edition Blue Note 'BLP1500' series 5-track LP; signed to Blue Note when he was only 18 years old, this jazz prodigy, who cut his teeth as a Jazz Messenger with the great Art Blakey, proceeded to record a stream of impressive records as a bandleader. At the ripe old age 19, Morgan helmed these sessions in August 1957 at Rudy Van Gelder’s Hackensack studio, producing a classic of 50s modern jazz!
