Wings Over The World Tour History

In contrast to Wings' two low profile outings of 1972, this was a major, highly publicised tour that took place mostly in arenas. More than two million people attended 66 shows on three continents — Australia, Europe, and North America, where it was known as the Wings Over America Tour and represented McCartney's first appearances in concert since the last Beatles tour in 1966. Touring Japan was also planned, but was cancelled by that country's authorities because of McCartney's 1972 Swedish drug arrest.

The tour came upon the heels of two Wings album releases: Venus and Mars and Wings at the Speed Of Sound. Both were described as 'stadium rock' type albums, and the songs from both were heavily represented on the tour, as were numbers from the popular and critically-acclaimed Band On The Run.

Wings' lineup for the tour was Paul and Linda McCartney, Joe English, Denny Laine and Jimmy McColloch. They were joined by brass and woodwind players Howie Casey, Steve Howard, Thaddeus Richard, and Tony Dorsey.

WINGS IN CONCERT MIRROR

This beautiful colourful mirror measures 23" x 32" and is stylishly framed in wood. It features the same design as the posters that were used to promote that tour.

Pauls' name is in bold yellow text on a green background at the top of the piece, the centre area is dominated by the Wings logo while the bottom area features the wording 'Wings In Concert' with all the tour dates of the UK leg of the tour and proudly proclaiming SOLD OUT in large red text.

With each of the acts promoted by Mel Bush, once a successful tour or concert had taken place, Mel would commission a commemorative plaque or mirror as a souvenir of the event. Usually these would be presented to the artist, with an additional one kept in his own personal archive.

Now semi-retired, Mel has decided to part with his treasured archive of mirrors and plaques and we have been enlisted to help him find good homes for his collection.

An eye-catching display item that's sure to be the focal point of any room that it is hung in and despite the fact that this mirror is now over 30 years old it remains in perfect condition with no discolouration or tarnishing having been preserved in bubblewrap in the Mel Bush archive since it was commissioned.

**Due to the size, weight and fragility of this item we would request that potentional customers contact us directly by phone or email to discuss delivery/collection options**
