JOE BYRD & THE FIELD HIPPIES The American Metaphysical Circus (Rare 1969 landmark 12-track stereo LP recorded shortly after Joe Byrd left the USA [Band, not country]. After pioneering the ring modulator on the USA LP, this was one of the first recordings to feature extensive use of Synthesisers & the Vocoder & saw Joe teamed up with a collection of talented studio musicians including Tom Scott & Ted Greene. With its use of effects, delays, backward vocals & electronic effects, this album pushed the envelope even further as to what was possible within the confines of 'Rock' music. Indeed, vocalist Victoria Bond went on to be successful in the classical field & Sax player Fred Selden joined the Don Ellis Orchestra & won a grammy. Not your average run-of-the-mill album then. The opener on side one 'The Sub-Sylvian Litanies has been described as 'an entire Acid Trip in eleven minutes'! You can judge for yourself with this amazing near 'as new' original copy on the grey Columbia Masterworks '<-- 360 Sound -->' label, with immaculate vinyl & minimal evident shelfwear on the demo stamped pasted picture sleeve - An incredible copy!
