Kind Of Blue - 2nd

MILES DAVIS Kind Of Blue (Rare & desirable circa 1961-2 US stereo issue of the undisputed classic 1959 5-track LP, on the iconic 'six eye' Columbia label with additional 'CBS' print in the top arrow & '1BA/1BG' stamped matrices. Towering well above its peers, this is an album to end all jazz albums! Like the first issue sleeve, the wrong track sequence for the second side [Flamenco Sketches first, All Blues second], & Cannonball Adderley's name misspelled as 'Adderly' is present onthe cover. What you need to know is that the condition of this example is simply breathtaking. A must have for the Miles collector & fascinating to compare to subsequent issues, see 'more info' for further details... CS8163)

The pasted picture sleeve has survived over half a century in spectacular condition. The colours remain bright & vivid & it still looks hot off the press. The back panel is a super attractive off white & both sides are clean & unblemished, with clearly legible text all over including along the spine. What's really magical is that it bears almost no edge wear at all. A mouthwatering example & unrepeatable, it really is that special.

The label design confirms this as a second issue 'six eye', with the extra 'CBS' printed in the top arrow. These are rarely documented online & just as desirable as the first issues, especially in this type of condition. Both the side one & two labels are unblemished & there is no spindle wear by the centre hole, indicating hardly any play in its life. Yes, this example really does tick all the right boxes...

The matrix numbers in the trail off are machine stamped 'XSM47326-1BA' & 'XSM47327-1BG', with uncorrected speed for side one [collectors had to wait until the '90s for this to finally be rectified].

The vinyl is super clean & plays like a dream with no distortion or surface noise & barely any visible wear to mention. Easily EX+ condition, we cannot recommend this highly enough. Simply wonderful... akin to the Holy Gail, the Grand Canyon, the Mona Lisa... pure aural ambrosia.
