Stretcher Case Baby - Fully Autographed

THE DAMNED Stretcher Case Baby (MEGA RARE AUTOGRAPHED 1977 UK promotional vinyl 7" which was never available for retail sale, but instead was originally given away at a series of London gigs and through an NME competition to celebrate the bands first anniversary, also including Sick Of Being Sick. Housed in a superb picture sleeve and matching skull labels. This is a legendary item from the beginning of the punk era and this copy has the bonus of being fully signed on the front of the sleeve by the circa 1978 line up of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible ['Brian Is A Toss' above Sensibles signature], Rat Scabies and Algy. The fragile sleeve has some light wear, along with the vinyl that only shows one or two inaudible surface scuffs to show for its forty plus years in the wild. A wonderful collectors item that should take pride and place in any Damned collection DAMMED-1)

Tracklisting & More Information

1. Stretcher Case Baby
2. Sick Of Being Sick

This legendary item was given away to punters who attended a series of shows at the original Marquee Club in Soho, London in July 1977 to celebrate the bands first anniversary. Some were also given out via the NME as a competition prize.

Superb picture sleeve which appears to be a skull at first glance but when looked at more closely is an image of a lady looking in the mirror and her reflection. On the reverse is 2 black & white photos of the band in full manic live on stage action with the 'Stiff Records' logo and the wording 'ISSUED FREE AS FIRST ANNIVERSARY GIFT' underneath.

The labels have 2 more 'white-on-black' skull images - one with the band members heads on and the other with tracklisting details followed by the wording:

"EASILY DESTRUCTIBLE STEREO

NOT FOR SALE

Special snob collectors artifact of no historical/cultural value. Play it today. Throw it away. Why sell 'em when you can give 'em away."

In the run-out grooves there is the following etching/matrix numbers:

"DAMMED-1-1 I SAID YOU BETTER HAVE THE ALBUM I SAID YOU BETTER HAVE THE ALBUM

DAMMED-2-1 ONE YEAR OLDS"
