Tracklisting & More Information

Background
Sixties Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition. Beatles albums are no exception to this rule, covers are often torn, records badly scratched and labels barely legible, yet their scarcity and differences make them highly sought-after among collectors.

Between 1963 and early 1965 Beatles albums were issued in mono only on a red "Parlophon" label, these are some of the rarest Beatles items to find in any condition! In mid 1965 Parlophone issued Beatles albums on a silver and black label, again the logo read "Parlophon" without the 'e'. This lasted until 1968 when all albums were reissued in Stereo and the labels changed to "Parlophone" with the 'e'

The labels are matt black finish with bright silver "Parlophon" logo and tracklisting also in silver. There are no marks around the spindlehole on either side, signifying very little play.

The Matrix Numbers are machine stamped, they are as follows

Side One XEX 503-4N
Side Two XEX 504-4N

The date 1 12 64 has also been machine stamped into the dead vinyl. This was the date of the red label issue, this is the second issue and is circa 1965. It is essential to stress how rare any Beatles sixties albums are from Italy in playable condition.

The condition of Italian records generally is less than than those from the UK, US or other European Countries, but collectors are usually prepared to accept inferior quality items due to the scarcity of these unique Italian LPs, however the condition of this album is staggering!

Visually the vinyl on this sought after foreign pressing is simply staggering. Italian records are not usually found in such beautiful condition. Under close inspection under bright light only a couple of VERY light marks are visable, probably caused by removal and replacement of the vinyl from the inner.
Audibly this album is superb and plays without annoying background noise, hiss, crackle or pops. A real gem!

Housed in the original laminated picture sleeve which is almost identical to the UK equivelent, with the main differences being that the outline mono logo is missing from the Italian copy and in its place is the "PMCQ" catalogue number and also the pressence of "Dischi Parlophon" logo in the bottom left hand corner of the sleeve.
This sleeve was not designed to stand the test of time, with it's gatefold design and novel internal opening, the front of the sleeve was prone to creasing and tearing and excessive removal and replacement of the vinyl from the sleeve put strain on the spine. These problems were not restricted to Italian sleeves, the UK sleeves suffered the same fate and as such finding a decent condition sleeve for this album is becoming increasingly difficult.

The sleeve on this particular album defies all of the above text as well as the items 40 year history!
The front and back of the sleeve are fully laminated, the laminate shows no lift or damage preserving the rich, vibrant colours.
Internally the right hand side of the sleeve is also laminated which differs from the UK issue. There are no rips tears or creases on the inside of the sleeve. The flipbacks are also secure. The edges are perfect, the spine is pinched at each end and the title is clearly legible

A stunning addition to any collection, not found often, especially in this condition.
