Tracklisting & More Information

Sixties Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition. Beatles albums are no exception to this rule, covers are often torn, records badly scratched and labels barely legible, yet their scarcity and differences make them highly sought-after amongst collectors.

Between 1963 and early 1965 Beatles albums were issued in mono only on a red "Parlophon" label, these are some of the rarest Beatles items to find in any condition! In mid 1965 Parlophone issued Beatles albums on a silver and black label, again the logo read "Parlophon" without the 'e'. This lasted until 1968 when all albums were reissued in Stereo and the labels changed to "Parlophone" with the 'e'

In 1968, the Beatles switched to the Apple label. The albums on Parlophone did not switch to Apple in Italy but remained on Parlophone. Also, in 1969 Italy became part of the European Economic Community and began using the EEC numbers in addition to their own.

The labels are dark green Apple in colour and design, the have a "Stereo and Mono" logo on the label which is highly unusual as the album plays in Stereo but has a mono "PMCQ" catalogue number, a stereo issue would have the catalogue number "SPMCQ". Also noteworthy on the left hand side of the label is the UK matrix number although the album is clearly Italian as it has 'Fabricato In Italia' perimeter text.

The matrix numbers are machine stamped into the dead vinyl. They are as follows

Side One YEX-709-T2
Side Two YEX-710-T2
Side Three YEX-711-T2
Side Four YEX-712-T2

The date 14-11-68 is also machine stamped into the dead vinyl on all four sides.

The vinyl on all four sides is unblemished, mint condition with no defects and housed in black inner bags.

Complete with original fold-out poster and four portraits.

The German manufactured fully laminated, top opening gatefold picture sleeve is in remarkable condition and has only one minor flaw in that the laminate has a 3" score mark on the front, but the rest of the sleeve is in superb condition with minimal edge scuffing or shelfwear. The band name is boldly embossed, the number 0050940 is clearly legible. The sleeve, notorious for discolouration is in remarkable condition with only slight yellowing evident.

It's quite common that Italian sixties records are found in almost unplayable condition, so finding a forty year old Beatles album in this condition is a very tall order indeed

A superb addition to any collection.
