This fantastic item is a beautiful late 50s Hofner single cutaway semi-acoustic single pickup guitar once owned by Freddie Mercury!
The guitar comes with excellent provenance in that it was given to his friend, the late UK radio DJ and TV presenter Kenny Everett who passed it on many years later as a competition prize.
Kenny also provided a signed letter on Capitol Gold headed paper saying 'Hope you like the present as Freddie was a very dear friend of mine. Please take care of the prize guitar.'

It was originally signed on the body of the guitar by Freddie but the course of time and the fact that the guitar has been played, has all but erased the autograph and it is no longer fully legible.
It is housed in a 'good ol' boys' snakeskin style Washburn hardshell case, complete with rhinestone strap and is destined to be the jewel in the crown of somebodys Queen collection!

As an aside, the guitar itself is in nice 'used vintage' condition. The neck is good & true plus it's obviously been refretted at some time. Inlays & scratchplate are tortoiseshell. There is a screwhole for a neck strap peg, but no peg. The body peg is wood.
The pickup is a classic Hofner 'toaster' pickup with original adjustable bridge & 'KH' badged trapeze tailpiece. The headstock has been resurfaced at some point with a 1mm deep plastic cover, so sadly whatever original Hofner design was there is no more.
The general condition, as previously stated, is 'used vintage' - It has crackling to the upper varnish - possibly a later re-lacquer - and several chips & scuffs but these are only cosmetic & simply add to the feel of what was obviously a much loved & used workhorse guitar.

A fantastic, once in a lifetime piece of Freddie memorabilia.
