Tracklisting & More Information

1. How I Won The War
2. Aftermath

It is mid 1966. The Beatles have stopped touring & Dick Lester asks John Lennon if he wants to come to Spain to be in a film. John is bored. John agrees & his role in the only non-Beatles film in which he appeared is set.
John is to play Musketeer Gripweed in the film which is shot in late 1966 in Almería, Andalucía, Spain.

Directed by Dick Lester & written by Charles Wood (The team also responsible for HELP!), the film is a biting & sometimes surreal anti-war satire & also featured Michael Crawford, Roy Kinnear, Ronald Lacey & Michael Hordern. It was a commercial & critical failure at the time, perhaps too ambitious for the audience of the day, although now it is lauded for its bravery & visionary direction.
The film, as far as John Lennon fans are concerned, is a triumph, with John turning in a superb performance as the hapless Musketeer.
It is also notable for being the first time John wore what were later to become his trademark NHS spectacles & it was also where, during the time between filming, he wrote Strawberry Fields.
Both the A & B side were penned by Ken Thorne.
Condition :-
This copy is in staggering MINT condition. Coming from the vast personal collection of a former music journalist & reviewer, it was played once for review then safely tucked away for over thirty years.
It has long been a hard to get item for Beatles / Lennon completists & seldom surfaces for sale as it sold in very small numbers at the time, even though The Beatles were still at the height of their popularity.
An amazing, once in a lifetime, find.
