The seven songs on the album captured Slade's transition from enthusiastic novices with a knack for performing the music of others into a powerful group in their own right – and the public loved it. 'Slade Alive!' spent over a year[58 weeks to be exact] on the UK album charts and was a major success across Europe and beyond. As their fans had come to expect, 'Get Down And Get With It' was the showstopper, introduced as ever by Ringmaster Noddy with the now fabled battle cry of: "Well, alriiiiiiiiiiight everybody... let your hair down!!" The band's version of the Steppenwolf standard 'Born To Be Wild' was further evidence of their showmanship.
