The Story Of The Blues

VARIOUS The Story Of The Blues (1969 US 32-track double LP, compiled by Paul Oliver & featuring rare original blues tracks from 1927-1968, intended as a companion piece to his book of the same name. The selection opens with the Fra-Fra Tribesmenrecorded in Ghana, nothing but vocals over a fiddle and rattle! The discs then take you through the early works, chronologically, of Charley Patton, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson and some highly obscure names - Blinding stuff. The gatefold picturesleeve shows just some light shelfwear & the vinyl remains excellent - a nice copy! G30008)
