CHRIS BARBER'S JAZZ BAND & THE LONNIE DONEGAN SKIFFLE GROUP New Orleans Joys (1954 first UK issue 8-track 10" vinyl LP on the dark blue Decca label with gold lettering. This is the record that kick started the Skiffle boom in the UK, led to John Lennon picking up a guitar & consequently shaped almost everything that we now listen to. The Jazz band consisted of Chris Barber on Trombone, Pat Halcox on Trumpet, Monty Sunshine on Clarinet, Lonnie Donegan on Banjo, Ron Bowden onDrums & Jim Bray on Bass, with the Skiffle group consisting of Chris Barber on Bass, Lonnie Donegan on Guitar & Vocals & Beryl Bryden on Washboard. The picture sleeve is front laminated with '54.12' dated scalloped flipbacks & in nice condition, with minimal wear & just a little age yellowing to show for its fifty five years. The vinyl too remains excellent with just a couple of light surface scuffs to show for its vintage. A great first issue press of a classic album! LF1198)
