THE POPLIN FAMILY Gwine Back To Sumter (1966 US 14-track vinyl LP, pasted picture sleeve with liner notes on the reverse. Who are this family and what is Sumter I hear you ask? The members of this extended musical family, hailed from Sumter, South Carolina, and learning their trade via radio broadcasts [and the Carter Family] they were able to create an individual style that distinguished them from other string bands, if you're into Smithsonian Folkways/Alan Lomax type musical ethnography - then this is for you! The sleeve shows some minor sighs of age but has stood the test of time remarkably well, the vinyl has the odd light scuff/blemish, but is otherwise excellent MLP7331)
