THE PHILHARMONICA ORCHESTRA conducted by KURT SANDERLING The Nine Symphonies (Magnificent 1981 UK NINE LP box set, digitally recorded to the highest quality and packaged inside a deluxe silver titled box with a twelve page illustrated booklet. There's not much to say about the nine symphonies as you already know about them but the sheer beauty of No.6 'Pastoral', the amazing Ode To Joy from the ninth and the rest of the performances here really shine through. With Sheila Armstrong, Linda Finnie, Robert Tear & John Tomlinson assisting on the choral passages, this really is a box set worth owning. The box itself shows just light shelfwear with a few scuffs to the outside & the vinyl remains near 'as new' with little sign of play - Essential SLS5239)
