ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS Moanin' (1963 US 'New York USA' label address issue of the 1958 6-track deep groove mono LP, just titled 'Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers' on release but now more widely known as 'Moanin', with the 'ear' etchings & 'RVG' stamps in the run-outs. Also stars Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Bobby Timmons & Jymie Merritt, in what must surely be one of the top ten albums to own on Blue Note. Comes housed in a heavy pasted laminate sleeve with UK import stickers attached on the back & catalogue inner enclosed. This cover grades Very Good-. There are some unfortunate large chips out of the paper along the top edge. There are also some chips along the bottom edge but far less. All print remains clearly legible including along the spine & the panels are otherwise Excellent. The labels are unmarked & the heavyweight vinyl is clean & grades Excellent. There are just some gentle & light cosmetic signs of play - playback is superb with the all important Plastylite 'ear' logo in the run-outs. Although not mint, this remains a pleasing example & a classic album through & through BLP4003)
