One of many Blue Note classics, this is a particular standout as it includes not only Cannonball's but some of Miles Davis' best work, who appears here along with Hank Jones, Sam Jones & Art Blakey. Autumn Leaves & Love For Sale are among the most beautiful & contemporary renditions ever recorded! A simply must-own for the jazz fan.

This first issue was pressed just before "Blue Note Records" became an incorporated company & a registered trademark.
A combination of Van Gelder's sound engineering & Plastylite pressing [with or without the 'R'], this is well & truly the 'golden age' of highest quality Blue Note pressings.

Label Design: -

Without 'Inc' or 'R' lettering after 'Blue Note'. Deep groove with '47 West 63rd - NYC' address.
The colours of the labels are bright and vivid with no tears to the print. There is a 'deep groove' visible both sides.

Condition : -

This copy is more for the completist than anything else.

The sleeve has a split to the spine and some corner scuffing but the back remains clearly readable.

The vinyl shows a large quantity of light surface scuffs on both sides and upon playtesting there is a fair amount of surface noise evident, although the music itself does not suffer from any burring or noticable groove wear. Probably more a copy to frame than to play, although the quality of the music and recording does shine through regardless.

This record is far from mint, which is why it isn't ten times the price, but a first issue like this is an incredibly rare LP to find at all.
