THE BEATLES The Beatles (White Album) (2018 Japanese Super Deluxe Edition SHM-CD [Super High Material CD - playable on all CD players] / ONE Blu-Ray set - Released to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, their classic album has been remixedfor the FIRST TIME by Giles Martin with Sam Okell sourced directly from the original four-track & eight-track session tapes, guided by the album's original stereo mix produced by his father, George Martin. This comprehensive, individually numbered 7-disc collection comprises the new 2018 stereoalbum mix across two discs, with a third disc containing the twenty seven original demos which were recorded during the last week of May 1968 at George’s house in Esher, Surrey; and THREE discs featuring FIFTY additional recordings, most previously unreleased, from 'White Album' studio sessions, all newly mixed from the four-track and eight-track session tapes, sequenced in order of their recording start dates; plus a bonus Blu-Ray disc containing the 2018 album mix in high resolution PCM stereo, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, Dolby True HD 5.1 and a direct transfer of the album’s original mono mix. All seven discs sit inside individual mini-LP card wallet sleeves replicating the original album artwork, housed in a 164-page extensive hardbound book, with pull-out reproductions of the original album's four glossy colour portrait's, as well as the album’s large fold-out poster with a photo collage on one side and lyrics on the other. The beautiful book is illustrated with rare photographs, reproductions of handwritten and notated lyrics, previously unpublished photos of recording sheets and tape boxes, and reproduced original ‘White Album’ print ads. Also includes a Japanese booklet with lyrics & back tracklisting insert, housed in a silk screen printed clear plastic slipcase, still in the obi-stickered re-sealable bag UICY-78856)

The SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.
