METALLICA 53rd & 3rd (Extremely rare 2003 UK withdrawn limited edition 3-track 7" pressed on Blue Marbled Vinyl, also including Green Day's version of Outsider and The Offspring's cover of I Wanna BeSedated, all taken from the all-star tribute album to The Ramones. This single was released by Columbia records to cash in on Metallica's popularity, however, their management stepped in to withdraw the single from release. Tracklisting & More Information

Record Collector Magazine January '10:
This is the rarest Metallica record pressed in the UK. In 2002, Johnny Ramone asked Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett to get the band to contribute a track to the 'Happy Family' tribute album. Metallica prefaced a secret gig (under the name Spun) in San Francisco on June 4th 2002 with 6 Ramones songs: "Commando", "Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "We're A Happy Family", "Cretin Hop" and "53rd & 3rd". They recorded the last track in the studio for the tribute album. Typically, in the UK, Columbia thought they would cash in on Metallica's popularity by issuing it as a single in 2003, along with 2 other tracks by Green Day and Offspring. Metallica, or their management, stepped in to withdraw the single from release. This then is a mega-rarity. We're unsure how many copies were pressed but, as they come up for sale so infrequently, there can't be that many.
