ART PEPPER Tokyo Debut (1995 Japanese only 8-track CD recorded
live at the Yubin Chokin Hall in Tokyo on April 5th 1977 with Cal Tjader
on Vibes, Clare Fischer on Keyboards, Bob Redfield on Guitar, Rob
Fisher on Bass, Peter Riso on Drums & PonchoSanchez on Percussion.
The more full, yet still small, combo add an edge to Art's superlative
playing, making it one of the more unusual of Art's 'comeback'
sessions. Of particular note is the rousing version of 'Cherokee' & the
playing of aliberally Latin spiced set. Now beautifully digitally
remastered, the CD has full English sleeve notes by Laurie Pepper & a
Japanese translation insert & is complete with the often missing
obi-strip VICJ-23185)
