BOOKER ERVIN Exultation! (1963 US first press 6-track deep
groove mono LP, on the black & yellow 'fireworks' label with
Bergenfield address & 'Van Gelder' machine stamped in the
run-offs, also starring Frank Strozier, Horace Parlan, Butch
Warren & Walter Perkins, pasted picture sleeve. The cover
[VG] has seam splits in the far reaching corners but otherwise
the panels are nice & clean, with just a little ring wear, & all
text is legible including along the spine. The vinyl grades VG-
with spindle marks on the labels & some paper hairlines &
scuffs, but playback reveals no great loss in fidelity on a
mono setting & the wax is nice & clean. By no means mint,
this is a nice & serviceable first press at a very attractive

force to be reckoned with. Booker's hot tone is nicely off-set
against the cool-sound of saxophonist Zoot Sims, complimented
by trumpeter Tommy Turrentine, pianist Tommy Flanagan,
bassist George Tucker & drummer Dannie Richmond. Comes
housed in the original front laminated flipback picture sleeve
completewith the 'Emitex' inner. The sleeve is Excellent with
clean panels & no writing or tears. The bottom corners reveal
just the odd minor bit of chipping to the laminate & tiny crease
mark in the bottom flipback. The vinyl is nice & clean & grades
