DAVID BOWIE Thin White Duke Poster (Circa 1976 UK 20" x 30" promotional-only poster featuring a wonderful portrait of David on stage in his Thin White Duke persona with 'Macdonald & Jane's Publishers LTD' credit, although information on this item is scarce, it has been intimated that they were given away as part of a promotional campaign by Unigate Daries, however we could not testify to this. What is certain is that there are only a couple of examples to be found on the internet and we have never seen one before - always a sign of a scarce item. There are pin-holes to each corner, with few other signs of age and it has been stored rolled meaning no folds or deep creases. DAVID BOWIE The Sun Promotional Poster (1970s UK 20" x 30" promotional-only poster featuring a great portrait of Bowie taken from the same sessions as used on the Japanese single art for the re-release of Can't Help Thinking About Me; this item bears the logo of the famous British newspaper The Sun in the top right corner and was most likely obtained by applying to a special offer in the paper and having it mailed to you. The paper stock is light, semi-glossy and has just a few pin-holes in each corner with no tears and just a little creasing at the edges, but has been stored rolled with no folds or major creases. An interesting item, of which we are unable to find any information, most likely nearly all copies ended up on teenager's bedrooms walls and then were binned when they became too worn - this one may be one of only a handful that have survived the intervening years. DAVID BOWIE The Man Who Fell To Earth (Fabulous original 1976 UK British Lion promotional film poster for the science fiction film directed by Nicolas Roeg, based on the 1963 novel of the same name by Walter Tevis and starring David Bowie, along with Rip Torn, Candy Clark and Buck Henry. The poster measures 40" x 30" and features a colour image of David's title character against a black background plus white text. There are a few pin-holes to each corner from previous display withthree 1" tears and a half-inch tear to the right edge, however nothing that will stand out after framing and age yellowing to the reverse is light, indicating this example has been stored well and rolled. Measuring 24" deep x 47.5" wide, condition-wise thereis some creasing evident to the edges [nothing too excessive], a 2" tear to the top edge and some very minor spots of discoularation. These flaws only add credence to the authenticity of this beautiful poster and professional mounting and framing is what it deserves. Measuring 13" x 18", the Colyer & Southey CS Line Board is hand sketched and picture pasted, with a transparency overlay. "Often Copied Never Equalled" heads the advert, the back of the board is hand annotated/signed by A.D.Design/Slade 919/001. Over the course of some37years, the transparency paper has some creases and some of the pasted logos have become unstuck but with professional mounting and framing, these can easily be flattened and indeed, this is worthy of nothing less for future preservation.
