Just 500 copies of the LP were originally released. This high quality Japanese CD issue reproduces the laminated flipback sleeve artwork, label design and album notes beautifully, complete with Japanese translated booklet and obi-strip. To give some background, Gonsalves arrived in London during the badwinterof 1962-63 to escape the legal wranglings of the US Musicians Union. He recorded this gem of a set under the declaration that it took place in Switzerland to avoid further trouble. Teamed with the Brit-jazz musicians Pat Smythe (piano), Kenny Napper (bass), and Ronnie Stevenson (drums), all firm admirers of Gonsalves' incredible warmth and depth of playing.
