JOE HARRIOTT QUINTET Free Form (Legendary 1961 US first
press 8-track stereo LP on the black & silver Jazzland label,
recorded at Lansdowne Studios in London, England in 1960
with Shake Keane [trumpet], Pat Smythe [piano], Coleridge
Goode [bass] & Phil Seamen [drums]. This was music without
set harmony or rhythm, going a step further than Ornette
Coleman but without much commercial reward, it is now
considered a landmark album. The pasted picture sleeve [VG]
has just a few tiny paper marks including a small half inch
split at the bottom opening, with all text clearly legible, it is
fully textured with wonderful abstract artwork. The vinyl is
clean & in Excellent condition with barely any play JLP949S)

THE JOE HARRIOTT QUINTET Movement (2024 UK/EU limited
edition 9-track stereo LP pressed on 140-gram black vinyl,
remastered and cut from the original master tapes by Abbey
Road Studios. A British modern jazz milestone only issued in
the UK in1964 as part of the Lansdowne Series. Joe was a
true pioneer, although always in the shadow compared to his
US peer, Ornette Coleman, Joe's take on freeform jazz sounds
highly organised and accessible, due to his stunning
musicianship and theband's, including the almighty Shake
Keane on trumpet & flugelhorn, Pat Smythe piano, Coleridge
Goode bass & Bobby Orr drums. Includes the outstanding
Michael Garrick compositions 'Blues On Blues' and 'Face In
The Crowd'. Unquestionably one of the most distinctive British
jazz albums ever made. Picture sleeve with orignal cover
artwrok and large format insert with new liner notes. Hype
sticker & factory sealed. Essential)
