MEAT LOAF More Than You Deserve (Rare 1973 US wide centre promotional vinyl 7" for the withdrawn single release on the RSO Records label, plays the Stereo Short Version (blue side) and Mono Short Version (white side), housed in an RSO companydie-cut sleeve.
The song originated in the Off-Broadway rock musical More Than You Deserve, written by Jim Steinman (book and lyrics) with music by Michael Weller, staged at the Public Theater in New York in 1973. Meat Loaf was cast in themusical, and the single is essentially a recorded version of the show's title song. This was one of the first professional recordings to feature Meat Loaf as a solo vocalist and marked the beginning of his creative relationship with Steinman a partnership that would later produce iconic album Bat Out of Hell. The single was ultimately withdrawn shortly after being pressed and never received a full commercial release, until it was rerecorded in 1981.
