THE JAZZ COURIERS Music In The Modern Manner Acetate
(One-off 1958 UK 12" double-sided metal based ultra
high-grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate, containing a
recording of the January 17th, 1958 BBC radio broadcast,
Music In The Modern Manner, introduced by Bruce Wyndham &
produced by Cyril Drake. The acetate has a Pretex
manufacturing label one side with 'The Jazz Couriers' print.
The disc is fleshed out with two previously unreleased BBC
session recordings by the Eddie Thompson Trio from the same
broadcast. Considering it was common practice at this point
for the BBC to wipe & re-use tapes for other programmes, this
makes for quite a discovery. See 'more info' for further
details...)

THE JAZZ COURIERS The Couriers Of Jazz! (Rare 1960 UK first
press 8-track deep groove mono LP, featuring the two frontline
tenors of Ronnie Scott & Tubby Hayes recorded for Carlton in
New York & backed by Terry Shannon [piano], Jeff Clyne [bass]
& Bill Eyden [drums]. Includes three Tubbs originals; 'Mirage',
'After Tea' & 'The Monk', the latter a quirky tribute to
Thelonious. The picture sleeve is front laminated with scalloped
flipbacks & grades a nice VG+, with no splits & intact flipbacks.
There is some faint laminate ageing or minor ring wear,
understandable with age considering the cover was
manufactured from flimsy stock like all London LPs. The
heavyweight vinyl is a high quality British pressing & grades a
healthy EX/EX- with a deep sheen both sides, a few minor
spindle marks & the odd light paper scuff not affecting play. This
is a nice surviving copy, carefully stored with card backing & a
great piece of British Jazz history LTZ-L15188)

July 3rd, 1959 with Tubby Hayes on tenor sax, vibes & flute, Ronnie
