A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
 | ANNE BRIGGS Anne Briggs (Extremely rare 1971 UK 10-track mono
LP by one of the leading lights of the sixties acoustic/folk boom, along
with Davey Graham, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Wizz Jones, Shelagh
McDonald, Roy Harper, Ralph McTell and others. This was actually her
second album, recorded for Bill Leader's Topic label a mere seven years
after her first, because [as described in the sleeve notes] "Getting
Anne Briggs into a recording studio is like enticing a wild bird into a
cage". Hugely influential, and the provider of Blackwater Side to Bert
Jansch as well as several songs and tunes for her contemporaries that
she acquired on her almost constant travel across England and Ireland.
This copy is a gem of a gem 12T207) See 'More Info' ...
Tracklisting: A highly influential figure in the English folk music revival, being a source of songs and musical inspiration for others such as A.L. Lloyd, Bert Jansch, Jimmy Page, The Watersons, June Tabor, Sandy Denny, Richard Thompson and Maddy Prior. This is one of the precious few albums she left to history as she never really bothered about the traditional views of 'success' and 'fame', preferring instead to play a constant series of small clubs throughout her career. By all accounts, a determined woman who knew what she wanted from life and 'pop star' was not a part of it.
To those in the know, she has continued to influence to this very day and this is one of the many reasons that her all too few studio recordings are treated like the rare jewels they are.
This copy is a stunner.
Condition:
The sleeve remains a beautiful white with the merest few light creases to the front laminate to show for its forty plus years.
The spine and unlaminated rear text remains clear and as readable as it did in 1971.
The only flaw that can be listed is a common one to affect this design of sleeve from the period. When filed, they often stuck to their neighbours as a result of a bit too liberal application of the adhesive to fit the front laminate during manufacture. This led to a couple of millimeters 'sticky area' just beyond the end of the laminate.
Consequently, there is a small strip of intermittent paper loss about one to two millimeters wide at the edge of the end of the laminate on the back, although this does not go so far as to affect the text.
To get a sleeve this beautiful, this is a small price to pay and, trust me here, you won't let it bother you when you see the rest.
The vinyl is also in matching condition. Pressed on good old solid vinyl that has retained its sheen and, although played, has obviously been well looked after and has no defects or blemishes to speak of.
I can't think of much else to say about the vinyl as it really is beautiful and to all intents and purposes near 'as new'.
Even the poly lined inner remains white !
A wonderful copy of this great and elusive album in spectacular condition.
If there are better copies out there, then good luck finding them.
We've certainly never seen anything like this one in over thirty years of trading.

This copy is very nice indeed.
Condition:
Apart from one 'ding' a the top of the opening leading to a very small tear, the sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear, with very laminate creasing and the unlaminated reverse showing few signs of its nearly fifty years on this Earth.
The vinyl retains a wonderful deep sheen and is a testament to Great British pressing technology of the early Seventies. There are just a few marks around the centre spindle hole to show for its time in the wild and the vinyl remains free of all but the very lightest paper scuff.
A very nice one owner copy, that has obviously been well looked after and only its time in storage has led to the few defects it shows.

Maa Bonny Lad | | ANNE BRIGGS Nottinghamshire Tales (2009 Russian limited edition
10-track LP pressed on 180gram VIRGIN VINYL, originally
recorded in 1973 but unreleased until the mid 90s. Anne was pregnant
with her second child at the time of these recordings and already living
off the coast of Scotland in the Hebrides Islands, as far from the
London music scene as possible! Not surprisingly, given Briggs' talent,
the album has since become known as a 'lost classic'. Accompanied by
Ragged Robin, a folk rock band assembled by Steve Ashley [with
Richard Byers on mandolin and lead guitar, Brian Diprose on bass, and
John Thompson on drums], these brilliant versions of British folk
standards and original material are delivered with the kind of rare
sincerity and natural vocal ability that slices through time, straight to
the soul; sealed & stickered picture sleeve with 1996 notes from Anne
herself and Steve Ashley)
