ARZACHEL Arzachel (Cult British Psychedelia 1972 German issue of the 1969 6-track LP, supposedly recorded in an unknown cavern in eastern Ukraine(!) & led by Simeon Saparella, this is actually Steve Hillage's first recorded work with backing froma pre-Egg, all under pseudonyms. This is the fully laminated red sleeve edition with red & orange Roulette labels. The cover is Excellent, showing just a spot of faint discolouring & chipping to one of the bottom corners, & the vinyl is absolutely stunning near MINT with barely any evidence of play. This is the original British press on the small private Evolution label & is rare as hen's teeth. The blue labels list the song 'Queen St Gang' as 'Soul Thing (Queen St. Gang Theme) & the front laminated flipback sleeve is the early blue toned design. We have only seen this LP at ridiculous four figure sum prices on display at record fairs, usually wrecked & never selling we might add! The sleeve is graded Very Good and retains a tight & clean laminate with some creasing to the bottom right-hand corner flipback, otherwise the flipbacks are secure. There is no writing. The edges display minimal shelfwear, some faint ring wear and a little discolouration, all text is clearly legible. The labels do show some spindle wear by the centre holes to highlight play. The matrices are machine stamped & read: Side One: Z 1003A1... Side Two: Z 1003B1... The vinyl is graded VG displaying some light hairlines and paperscuffs. There is a more prominent visible scuff on Side Two but cleaning reveals little or no audible interference on playback and in fact plays to a much higher standard. Overall a respectfully priced Psych classic collectable and only the second copy we've ever seen.
